Prep Softball: Russellville 16, Tuscumbia 0

TUSCUMBIA - Trinity Riggs went 3-for-3 with a home run Thursday, leading the Russellville Lady Indians to a 16-0 victory in five innings against the Tuscumbia Lady Lions in Show-Me Conference play.

Riggs hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning for Russellville's final runs. She also had an RBI double in the Lady Indians' eight-run fourth inning.

Kraylin Laird had a single and a double, while Cambell Backues finished with two singles. Claire Duenckel had a double and two RBI and Lydia Gilmore drove in two runs.

Backues was the winning pitcher, retiring 15 of the 16 batter she faced with one strikeout. Cheyenne Monks had a single for Tuscumbia's lone hit.

Russellville (11-2, 3-0 Show-Me), ranked No. 2 in Class 2, will host the Owensville Tournament on Saturday due to COVID-19 concerns with Owensville.

The Lady Indians will play New Haven at 9 a.m., with South Callaway and Versailles playing at 10:30 a.m. The third-place game will follow at noon and the championship game is at 1:30 p.m.
