RUSSELLVILLE — In a Show-Me Conference state-ranked matchup, the Russellville Lady Indians pounded 12 hits, including a pair of home runs, to defeat the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets 11-3 on Thursday.

Cali Coombs hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Russellville, while Ryleigh Case hit a leadoff blast in the sixth.

Cambell Backues led the hitting attack for the Lady Indians, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Lydia Gilmore had a single, a double and three runs scored, while Case added a double to her home run. Erin Schroer also finished with two RBI.

Backues was also the winning pitcher for Russellville. In seven innings, she allowed three unearned runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

St. Elizabeth scored its three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Audrey Struemph, Emily Wilde and Lauren Otto each hit a double for the Lady Hornets.

Russellville (10-1, 2-0 Show-Me), ranked No. 2 in Class 2 by the MHSFCA, plays today at Class 2 No. 5 Fayette.

St. Elizabeth (6-2, 3-1 Show-Me), ranked No. 3 in Class 1, will play Friday and Saturday in the Rake at the Lake Tournament.
