Prep Softball: Fatima 12, Tuscumbia 0

TUSCUMBIA - Kinzey Woody powered the Fatima Lady Comets past the Tuscumbia Lady Lions with a three home-run performance in Tuesday's 12-0 win in five innings in Show-Me Conference play.

Woody opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the top of the first inning, then belted a solo shot in the third. In her third at-bat, Woody hit a two-run homer to left field in the fourth, extending the Fatima lead to 11-0.

Ellie Brune followed Woody's first-inning homer with a solo shot for back-to-back Fatima home runs. Brune also had three hits, adding a single and a double.

Anna Eichholz finished with a double and two RBI, while Allison Schwartze had a single, a double and an RBI for the Lady Comets.

Chayce Gier earned the win in the circle for the Lady Comets, throwing the first two innings and allowing one hit while striking out one.

Taylor Baumhoer pitched two hitless innings in relief, striking out four Lady Lions, before Mia Kliethermes came on for the final inning and struck out the side.

Fatima (6-2), which received votes in the MHSFCA Class 3 state poll, plays Class 5 No. 9 Lee's Summit North to open the Lady Jays Classic at 1:45 p.m. Friday at Binder Park.
