ST. ELIZABETH — The Jefferson City Lady Jays claimed their first win of the softball season Monday, as they went on the road to beat the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets 5-3.
Avrey Reynolds pitched all seven innings for the Lady Jays, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits, including a home run. Reynolds struck out five Lady Hornets on the way to the complete-game win.
Addison Morgan had two hits and three runs scored from the leadoff spot, while Amaya Ford had one hit and two RBI. Lydia Hudson hit a leadoff home run to left field in the second inning, pushing the Lady Jays' lead to 2-0.
Lyndsie Albright and Allison Carwile each contributed hits for the Lady Jays.
Emily Wilde started in the circle for the Lady Hornets, pitching four innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks, striking out two.
Riley Hammond pitched the final three innings in relief and allowed one run on three hits, striking out two.
Tasia Green hit a leadoff home run to center field for the Lady Hornets in the bottom of the fourth inning, cutting the Jefferson City lead to 3-1. Addie Oligschlaeger added one hit and one RBI for St. Elizabeth.
The Lady Jays added a run in the fifth to push their lead to 4-2. Each team scored a run in the seventh inning.
Jefferson City (1-8) will play host to Rock Bridge in a Central Missouri Activities Conference matchup at 5:30 p.m. today at Vogel Field.
St. Elizabeth (6-1) returns to Show-Me Conference play today at Russellville.
