Cross Country: Helias sweeps Mexico Autumn Classic

MEXICO - The Helias Crusaders and Lady Crusaders captured team honors Tuesday at the Mexico Autumn Classic.

On the boys side, Helias had five of the top 10 individual finishers to finish with 27 points.

Payton Kirchhoff won individual honors for the Crusaders, winning with a time of 17:11.28. Perry Scott (17:45.26) and Noah Voss (18:07.75) finished third and fourth, respectively. Ethan Wilson (ninth, 18:47.80) and Brady Voss (10th, 18:53.98) rounded out Helias' scorers.

Mexico was second in the nine-team event with 103 points, while St. Dominic took third with 111.

Eldon finished seventh with 147 points. Nathan Reynolds of the Mustangs finished second in 17:31.74 to lead the team.

On the girls side, Helias finished with 31 points to top a six-team field.

Danielle Buker led the Lady Crusaders, finishing second in 20:34.34. Alexa Lamb was fifth in 21:21.79, while Lauren Verslues finished seventh in 21:35.92. Lauren Mathews (14th, 22:37.90) and Avery Massman (15th, 22:38.02) rounded out Helias' scorers.

Eldon was fifth with 105 points. Zoe Martonfi of the Lady Mustangs took individual honors in 19:45.35.
