Iberia softball edges Kelly to advance to Class 2 Final Four

KELLY - The Iberia Lady Rangers scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday, topping the Kelly Lady Hawks 2-1 in the Class 2 quarterfinals.

Haylee Humphrey hit a leadoff single in the sixth for Iberia. She advanced to second base on an error, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Rangers a one-run lead.

Addison Williams hit a leadoff home run to center field in the bottom of the second inning to give Iberia a 1-0 lead. Kelly (16-16) tied the game with a run in the fifth.

Humphrey had two of Iberia's six hits.

Kinlee Cochran pitched a two-hitter for the Lady Rangers, striking out seven and walking two.

Iberia (20-6), ranked No. 8 in Class 2, advances to play sixth-ranked Sherwood (23-6) in the state semifinals at noon Friday, Oct. 29, at Killian Softball Complex in Springfield.

This is the Lady Rangers' second Final Four appearance. They finished fourth in Class 2 in 2015.
