Hinds finishes 14th as Lady Crusaders take fourth in state golf

COLUMBIA - The Helias Lady Crusaders are bringing home some state tournament golf hardware.

Sophie Hinds of the Lady Crusaders earned all-state honors while Helias took fourth as a team in the Class 2 state tournament that concluded Tuesday at Columbia Country Club.

Hinds finished 14th in the individual tournament with an 89-85-174. She totaled nine pars, including five in a seven-hole stretch in Tuesday's round to help improve her first-round score by four strokes. Hinds was 23rd last year in the Class 3 state tournament.

Lauren Plunkett was Helias' last state medalist, finishing 14th in the Class 1 tournament in 2015.

Helias totaled an 811 as a team to take fourth. The Lady Crusaders shot a 408 in the first round, improving to a 403 on Tuesday.

It is the first state trophy for the program since the Lady Crusaders took third in the Class 1 in 2015.

Visitation Academy was first with a 686, while Ursuline Academy finished second with a 775 and Kirksville was third with a 790 in the eight-team event. The top four teams earn state trophies.

Sophie VanDyne of the Lady Crusaders finished in a three-way tie for 38th with a 98-103-201. VanDyne tied for 50th in Class 3 in 2020.

Molly Case had the lone birdie in the tournament for Helias with a 3 on the par-4 second hole in Monday's opening round. The freshman finished in a two-way tie for 44th with a 98-105-203.

Raygan Hamilton of Helias finished in a two-way tie for 72nd at 123-110-233.

The Eldon Lady Mustangs finished sixth as a team with an 841.

Avery Wells led the Lady Mustangs by finishing 24th at 95-92-187. Hannah Petet was next for Eldon, taking 51st at 100-109-209. Petet was 63rd in the Class 1 Tournament in 2019.

Autumn Allen of Eldon tied for 59th with a 115-103-218, while Danielle Clifton tied for 65th with a 112-115-227.

The School of the Osage Lady Indians and Southern Boone Lady Eagles both had all of their qualifiers earn all-state honors.

For School of the Osage, Hanna Maschhoff finished second at 155, shooting a 74 on Monday and an 81 on Tuesday. Maschhoff was 10th in the Class 2 tournament last year.

Sophia Rivera-Sindlinger was sixth with a 168. She opened the tournament with an 86, then shot an 82 in the second round. Singlinger was 11th in the Class 2 tournament in 2020.

For Southern Boone, Lila Frazier finished in a two-way tie for eighth at 170. She shot an 85 in both rounds. Frazier tied for 17th in Class 2 in 2020.

Lily Frazier finished in a four-way tie for 10th with a 171. She opened the tournament with an 87, then shot an 84 on Tuesday. She tied for 14th last year in Class 2.

In 2019, Lila Frazier finished 25th in Class 1, while Lily Frazier tied for 26th.

Hannah Rackers of Blair Oaks finished in a two-way tie for 54th. She shot 107 in both rounds to total a 214.

Madeline Edgeman of Marshfield was the medalist, finishing with a 72-79-151. Edgeman was ninth in Class 2 in 2020.
