JAMESTOWN - Brock Lucas and Jace Kesel each recorded double-doubles Tuesday, leading the St. Elizabeth Hornets to a season-opening 62-34 victory against the Jamestown Eagles.
Lucas led the Hornets with 17 points and 15 rebounds, adding six assists. Kesel tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds.
St. Elizabeth led 22-13 after one quarter, then outscored Jamestown 19-4 in the second quarter to lead 41-17 at halftime. The Hornets extended their lead to 57-27 to begin the fourth quarter with a running clock.
Zach Hargis led the Eagles with 10 points, followed by Tyler Wilson with eight points.
St. Elizabeth (1-0), the No. 1 seed in next week's Eugene Tournament, will play fifth-seeded Belle at 8 p.m. next Monday.
Jamestown (0-1), the No. 5 seed in next week's Tipton Tournament, will take on fourth-seeded Russellville at 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday.
