St. Elizabeth baseball wins pair of games

ST. ELIZABETH - The St. Elizabeth Hornets got a pair of strong performances from their starting pitchers in winning a pair of games Saturday.

Caleb Oligschlaeger took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the opener, a 9-0 victory against the Versailles Tigers.

Oligschaegler gave up one hit, a single up the middle to start the seventh, while walking one and recording 14 strikeouts in the complete-game effort.

Jace Kesel had two hits and two RBI in the victory. Dylan Wobbe and Carson Kesel also had two hits while driving in a run each.

In the second game, Brock Lucas allowed just one hit in his three-inning effort as St. Elizabeth defeated Jamestown 13-5. Lucas didn't walk a batter and struck out five.

Clayton Holtmeyer pitched the final four innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out three.

Oligschlaeger had a two-run home run for the Hornets. Carson Kesel had three hits and scored four runs, while Lucas had three hits and drove in two runs.

Wobbe finished with two hits and four RBI. Jace Kesel had two hits and two RBI, while Holtmeyer had two hits and drove in a run.

St. Elizabeth (12-5) will host Tuscumbia on Monday.
