Capital City takes fourth in Russellville Tournament

RUSSELLVILLE - The Capital City Cavaliers lost a pair of close games Saturday in the Russellville Tournament, falling 4-2 against the host Indians in the semifinals before a 9-8 defeat against Union in the third-place game.

The Cavaliers got production from the bottom of the order against Russellville. Trey Jennings had two hits from the No. 6 spot, and Carlos Ayala and Justin Sullens each doubled from the final two spots.

Ayala drove in a run and pitched four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

The Indians didn't get a run or a hit against Cooper Rowden, who struck out a pair and walked none in two innings.

Against Union, Taggert Bodenstab had three hits, two singles and a double, and recorded two RBI.

Brock Miles had a home run, a triple and two RBI.

Capital City (3-12) will host Lebanon at 5 p.m. Monday.
