The Jefferson City Lady Jays look to win their fourth district basketball title in the past five seasons tonight when they host the Capital City Lady Cavaliers.

Game time for the Class 6 District 9 Tournament contest is 7 p.m. at Fleming Fieldhouse.

Jefferson City won three consecutive titles from 2017-19 before falling to Rock Bridge in the championship game last season.

The Lady Jays (19-2) are the top seed in the three-team tournament and ranked No. 3 in Class 6 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. A win tonight would be the fifth straight season of 20 more victories for the program.

Capital City (4-22), the No. 2 seed, advanced with a 48-40 win Monday night against Sedalia Smith-Cotton. It was the first district victory for the second-year program.

On Feb. 9, the Lady Jays defeated the Lady Cavaliers 78-18 in a game at Capital City High School. Hannah Nilges led Jefferson City with 23 points in the win, while Kara Daly added 22 points. Kambry Pistel finished with seven points to pace Capital City.

Tonight's winner advances to next Wednesday night's sectional game against the District 10 champion. Top-seeded Springfield Central (14-12) will take on third-seeded Lebanon (15-11) for the District 10 title at 6 p.m. tonight at Parkview High School.
