Girls Basketball: Fatima 57, Salem 29

WESTPHALIA - The Fatima Lady Comets led from start to finish Wednesday night, opening their postseason with a commanding 57-29 victory against the Salem Lady Tigers in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 9 Tournament.

Fatima (19-7), the No. 1 seed and ranked No. 10 in Class 4, will play third-seeded Blair Oaks for the district championship at 6 p.m. Friday in Owensville. The Lady Comets defeated the Lady Falcons earlier this season 49-40 in Wardsville.

Fatima cruised to a 30-14 lead at halftime and extended its advantage to 46-21 through three quarters.

Lauren Brandt scored a team-high 18 points for the Lady Comets.

Wednesday's victory was career win No. 100 for Fatima coach Matt Baker.

Salem, the No. 5 seed in the district, ends its season with a 16-10 record.
