Area players off to good starts at Missouri Junior Amateur

ROLLA, Mo. - Several area boys are among the leaders after the opening day of the Missouri Junior Amateur at Oak Meadow Country Club.

Archer Schnieders of Jefferson City is tied for fourth after shooting an even-par 70 in Tuesday's opening round. Aiden Wells of Eldon is tied for 11th after opening with a 74, while Drew Higgins of Jefferson City and William Boyd of California are among the golfers tied for 13th after shooting 75s.

Davis Linhardt of Jefferson City is among the golfers tied for 22nd after carding a 77, while Teagan Hull of Eldon shot an 82 and is tied for 41st. Jett Maasen of Linn is 51st after shooting an 88.

On the girls side, Hanna Maschhoff of Lake Ozark is tied for fourth after shooting a 10-over par 80 in Tuesday's first round.

Greta Hinds of Jefferson City is tied for 10th after carding an 85, while Camryn Swinfard of Jefferson City is tied for 15th after shooting an 88.

Sophie Hinds of Jefferson City is 18th after carding a 92, while Elliott Hull of Wardsville is 19th after shooting a 94. Jaycie Lowery of Jefferson City is 21st after finishing with a 96.

The boys and girls will both play another 18 holes today before the cut at the top 16 in each division advancing to match play starting Thursday.

There will be two matches scheduled Thursday to get the field down to the final four boys and girls.

The semifinals are scheduled for Friday morning, with the boys and girls championship matches set for Friday afternoon.
