Schnieders, Hinds finish in top 10 at Missouri Junior Amateur

SMITHVILLE - Dylan Comstock of Orrick and Bailey Burkett of Kansas City were the overall winners Wednesday in the Missouri Junior Amateur Championship held at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.

Comstock won the 16-18-year-old boys division with a two-round total of 5-under 139, winning that division by six strokes ahead of Thomas Gogel of Mission Hills and Jeffrey Johnson of St. Joseph. Comstock shot a 7-under 65 in Tuesday's first round and finished with a 74 in his second round on Day 2.

Burkett was the champion in the girls 14-15 division with an even-par 144, shooting a 72 in each round. Springfield's Owen Buerke was runner-up in that division with an 8-over 152.

Archer Schnieders was Jefferson City's top finisher in the 16-18 boys division, tying for ninth place out of 66 golfers with a 7-over 151. Schnieders shot a 74 in his first round with two bogeys and 16 pars, then carded a 77 on Wednesday with a pair of birdies.

Eldon's Aidan Wells tied for 15th with a 154, while Jefferson City's Davis Linhardt tied for 21st with a 156. Jefferson City's Drew Higgins finished in 54th place with a 172.

Ella Overstreet won a tiebreaker against Kaydi Rhodes in the 16-18 girls division, as each shot a 13-over 157. Both golfers are from Jackson.

Jefferson City's Greta Hinds led all area golfers in the division, finishing sixth out of 20 competitors with a 165. Elliott Hull of Wardsville finished 12th with a 183, while Eldon's Kassidy Hull tied for 13th with a 185. Jefferson City's Camryn Swinfard placed 16th with a 186.

Rolla's Jonathan Jordan won the 14-15 boys division with an even-par 144. California's William Boyd was third with a 162, Jefferson City's Burke Bauer was 10th with a 168, Eldon's Teagen Hull was 13th with a 174, California's Ayden Howard was 16th with a 182 and Eldon's Luke Barchenski was 19th with a 205.

In the girls 14-15 division, Lake Ozark's Hanna Maschhoff was fifth out of 13 golfers with a 168, while Sunrise Beach's Sophia Sindlinger was 12th with a 188 and Jefferson City's Sophie Hinds was 13th with a 209 in the two-day event.

In the 12-13 division, Columbia's Anson Munzlinger won the boys title with a 1-under 143, while Rogersville's Grace Tiedemann was the girls champion with a 23-over 167. Also in the boys division, Jefferson City's Grayson Moore was fifth with a 163, followed by Jefferson City's Dawson Schnieders with a 169 and Eldon's Brody Rader with a 175. Lake Ozark's Blayne Altermatt and Brady Altermatt were next with a 185 and 188, respectively, and Jefferson City's Gavin Brand was 11th with a 221.

The remaining three divisions each played nine holes per round. Grain Valley's Isaac Herbert won the 10-11 boys division with a 23-over 95, finishing four strokes ahead of Jefferson City's Hunter Hovis, while Rogersville's Olivia Tiedemann won the 10-11 girls division with a 115. Columbia's Blaine Munzlinger won the 8-9 boys division with a 74.
