LEBANON — The Jefferson City Jays won for the fifth time in eight games Saturday, defeating Gateway City Elite 79-54 in the third-place game of the Lebanon Hall of Fame Classic.

Jefferson City led 19-16 at the end of the first quarter before doubling up Gateway Elite in the second quarter to lead 39-26 at halftime. A 26-point third quarter for the Jays increased the advantage to 65-39.

Sterling DeSha paced the Jays with 23 points, Steven Samuels scored 16 and Michael Onunkwor tallied eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Jefferson City (6-11) will host Rolla on Tuesday at Fleming Fieldhouse. The freshman game will tip off at 4:30 p.m., the JV game will start at 6 p.m. and the varsity contest will begin at 7:30 p.m.
