Girls Basketball: California 65, Hallsville 57

CALIFORNIA - The California Lady Pintos improved to 6-0 at home Monday with a 65-57 win against the Hallsville Lady Indians in Tri-County Conference play.

Hallsville led 9-2 midway through the first quarter, but California ended the quarter on a 13-4 run to take a 15-12 lead. The Lady Pintos extended their lead to 35-24 by halftime, but Hallsville closed the gap to 47-45 by the end of the third quarter.

Hallsville tied the score twice in the fourth quarter, but California never trailed in the final four minutes, making 5-of-6 free throws in the final 39 seconds to secure the win.

Tristan Porter scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Lady Pintos. KaLynn Irey finished with 11 points and Lauren Hill and Bailey Lage each added 10 points.

California (8-4, 2-0 Tri-County), which has won its last five games, plays Thursday at Class 3 No. 2 Skyline.
