Girls Basketball: California 71, Marshall 38

CALIFORNIA - The California Lady Pintos secured first place in the California Tournament with Saturday's 71-38 win against the Marshall Lady Owls to wrap up round-robin play.

California led 9-7 at the end of one quarter. The Lady Pintos stretched their lead to double digits with a 20-2 run in the second quarter to lead 40-20 at halftime.

The Lady Pintos were doubling up the Lady Owls 54-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tristan Porter led California with 24 points, while Lauren Hill added 15 points. KaLynn Irey and Lauren Friedrich each finished with nine points.

Porter and Irey were named co-MVPs of the tournament. Hill and Friedrich were also named to the all-tournament team.

California (7-4) hosts Hallsville on Monday.
