WARDSVILLE — The Blair Oaks Falcons opened Tri-County Conference dual action Tuesday with a 2-1 record, defeating the Eldon Mustangs and the California Pintos before dropping a rematch against the School of the Osage Indians.
Blair Oaks won 60-16 against Eldon and 78-6 in its first-ever dual against California. The Falcons lost 44-34 to Osage.
Every varsity wrestler won at least two matches for the Falcons.
Finishing 3-0 in the quad-dual for Blair Oaks were Quinten Denney at 126 pounds, Eli Batiste at 160, Aidan Bolinger (113 and 120) and Camden Meeks (170 and 182).
Bolinger, Meeks and Batiste each won two matches by fall, while Denney recorded one pin.
Going 2-1 were Whit Nichols at 106, Brooks Nichols at 113 and 120, Austin Baumhoer at 138, Nick Welch at 145, Doug Blaha at 152, Levi Haney at 170 and 182, Jayden Purdy at 195, Joe Welch at 220 and Devonte Sanders at 285.
The Falcons were open at 132.
Blair Oaks (13-8, 2-1 Tri-County) will wrestle next Tuesday in a quad-dual against the Pirates, Southern Boone and California. Saturday's Owensville Tournament has been canceled.
In Tuesday's girls wrestling action, Blair Oaks lost 30-12 to Eldon.
Alayna Roling won by fall at 122 for the Lady Falcons, while Rylee Robinett won by forfeit at 159.
PARK HILLS — The Blair Oaks Falcons had five individual champions and won the team championship Saturday at the Park Hills Central Rebel Invitational.
Blair Oaks recorded 315.5 points in the final team standings. Park Hills Central was second with 245.5 points, followed by Sikeston in third with 216.5.
Winning individual titles for Blair Oaks were Whit Nichols at 106 pounds, Aidan Bolinger at 113, Nick Welch at 145, Eli Batiste at 160 and Levi Haney at 170.
Welch and Haney each posted a 5-0 record in the tournament. Haney won all five of his matches by fall in the first period, while Welch won twice by fall and twice by technical fall to go with a 9-2 decision.
Batiste finished 4-0 to place first, winning all four matches by pin, three coming in the first period.
Bolinger won his two matches by fall, while Nichols won by fall in his only match of the tournament.
Runner-up finishers for the Falcons were Doug Blaha at 152, Camden Meeks at 182 and Jayden Purdy at 195.
Blaha had a 3-1 record with two pins, while Meeks was 3-1 with two pins and a win by technical fall. Purdy posted a 1-1 record with one win by fall.
Devonte Sanders had a 3-1 record at 220 to finished third, winning two matches by fall.
Austin Baumhoer placed fourth at 138 with a 2-2 record, while Brooks Nichols placed fifth at 120 with a 2-2 record. Caiden Sanford went 0-3 at 132 to finish seventh.
The Blair Oaks JV team finished 10th in the overall standings with 74 points, the highest finish of the six JV teams in the tournament.
Leading the Falcons' JV team was Joe Welch, who finished first at 195. Welch went 3-0, defeating his teammate, Purdy, by a 10-3 decision in the championship match.
Dex Crane placed fourth at 182 with a 2-2 recorded, while Dylan Peate was 2-2 at 160 to take fifth place.
Bradyn Huhn took seventh at 120 with a 1-3 record and Cole Peters was eighth at 182 with an 0-4 record.
