Girls Basketball: Blair Oaks 61, Cuba 28

WESTPHALIA - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons used a big second quarter Monday night to pull past the Cuba Lady Wildcats for a 61-28 victory in the first round of the Fatima Lady Comet Classic.

This was the Lady Falcons' first game since Dec. 29 in the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Invitational.

Blair Oaks was ahead 11-4 after one quarter, but the Lady Falcons used a 24-8 scoring edge in the second quarter to push their lead to 36-12 at halftime.

The Lady Falcons increased their lead to 50-22 by the end of the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Wildcats 11-6 in the fourth quarter.

Mallorie Fick scored 19 points for the Lady Falcons, followed by Bailey Rissmiller with 10 points.

Blair Oaks (6-6), ranked No. 8 in Class 4, advances to the semifinals and will play St. James at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The two teams met last month in St. James, with the Lady Falcons winning 54-52 on a shot at the buzzer.

In other first-round action at the Lady Comet Classic, Fatima defeated St. James' JV team 73-30, St. James' varsity team won 74-37 against Belle and Steelville defeated Eldon 72-41.
