Helias wins two duals to open wrestling season

HANNIBAL - The Helias Crusaders opened the wrestling season Wednesday night with dual victories against the Warrenton Warriors and Hannibal Pirates.

Helias defeated Warrenton 60-18, then closed with a 52-16 victory against Hannibal.

Seven Crusaders finished the night with 2-0 records.

Wyatt Forck at 152 pounds got both of his wins on the mat, winning by fall and by an 18-7 major decision.

Gage Lock at 113 and Carson Hayes at 138 both won once by fall and once by forfeit.

Winning by two forfeits were Jack Lage at 132, Blake Luebbering at 182, Michael Sanner at 220 and Alex Cook at 285.

Five Crusaders were 1-1.

Carter Prenger won by fall and lost 11-7 at 120, while Garrett Ickes won by forfeit and lost by fall at 126. At 145, Jace Duemmel lost 8-4 and won by fall, while Cody Suthoff lost by fall and won by fall at 160. At 170, Drake Perkins won by fall and lost 1-0.

Aleksandr Careaga was 0-2 at 106 for Helias, dropping a pair of decisions by scores of 8-3 and 6-0.

The Crusaders were open at 195.

Helias is back in action next Tuesday at home against Moberly.

The Crusaders went 4-2 in six total JV matches Wednesday night.
