Girls Basketball: Helias 53, St. James 51

WESTPHALIA - The Helias Lady Crusaders used a big third quarter Wednesday night to defeat the St. James Lady Tigers 53-51 in the semifinals of the Fatima Comet Classic.

With the win, top-seeded Helias (3-0) advances to take on second-seeded Fatima (3-0) for the title at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

St. James led Helias 11-4 after one quarter and took a 24-15 advantage into halftime. But the Lady Crusaders outscored the Lady Tigers 27-12 in the third quarter to take a 42-36 lead with one quarter to play.

Claire Manns led the Lady Crusaders with 16 points, her third straight game scoring in double figures. Adalyn Koelling followed with 15 points and Mikah Edwards grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.

Fatima advanced to the title game with a 47-36 victory Wednesday night against Steelville.
