Prep Baseball: Calvary Lutheran splits pair in tourney

The Calvary Lutheran Lions split a pair of games in the Calvary Lutheran/New Bloomfield Invitational on Friday, falling 18-0 to California in the opener and beating Tipton 11-7 in the loser's bracket semifinal.

Jonathan Lieb picked up the win against Tipton, pitching 5 innings, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking five.

Leib hit 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored, Logan Meers was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored and Ben Hardin hit 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Carter Brooks drew three walks for the Lions, two of which drove in runs, and Jared Braun also had an RBI walk.

Calvary Lutheran (4-4) plays Lone Jack at 12:45 p.m. today for fifth place at Calvary.
