Iberia gets hot at plate, defeats Capital City 10-2

A tie at 1 would only stand for a couple innings. Then Iberia kept the line moving against Capital City.

The Rangers scored all of their runs from the fourth inning on Friday in a 10-2 defeat of the Cavaliers at Capital City High School.

Taggert Bodenstab tied the score at 1 in the first inning with a single to right field, scoring Trey Jennings from third base.

Iberia began to roll in the fourth inning. Wade Bond, who had two of the Rangers' eight hits, tripled and scored on a passed ball for the first of two runs in the fourth.

A single sandwiched between a pair of errors added three runs for Iberia in the fifth.

Issac Lawson drove in a pair of runs in the sixth and Jacob Whittle added an RBI single for the second of two runs in the seventh.

Lawson earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs (one earned) and three hits with eight strikeouts and eight walks in 4 innings.

Bodenstab took the loss for the Cavaliers, allowing six runs (two earned) and five hits with five strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

Iberia (9-0) plays Monday at Prairie Home/Bunceton.

Capital City (0-7) plays Monday at Fatima.
