Prep Baseball: Eugene 5, Russellville 2

EUGENE - The Eugene Eagles overcame an early deficit Monday to defeat the Russellville Indians 5-2 in Show-Me Conference action.

Landon Plochberger led off the game for Russellville with a solo home run to give the Indians the lead. Russellville led added a run in the second when Chris Seaver doubled home Alex Oligschlaeger.

Plochberger finished with three hits in the game.

Eugene answered with three runs in the bottom of the third before adding two insurance runs in the fifth.

The Eagles finished with seven hits, all singles. Javan Steinhardt had two hits to pace the Eugene attack,

Tyler Renn got the win, pitching the first 62/3 innings before getting pulled by the pitch count. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 12. Adin Sommerer got the final out for the Eagles.

Charlie Miller took the loss, pitching five innings. He gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk while recording one strikeout. Logan Cinotto pithed the sixth for the Indians, allowing one walk while striking out three.

Eugene (6-3 overall, 3-1 Show-Me) is back in action Thursday at home against Jamestown.

Russellville (6-3, 0-2) will play another conference game Thursday at Linn.
