Lady Jays, Lady Cavaliers compete at Girls Night Out

SPRINGFIELD - The Capital City Lady Cavaliers won two events while the Jefferson City Lady Jays posted three runner-up results Thursday in the Glendale Girls Night Out meet.

Capital City's Kiara Strayhorn finished first or second in four events, including a victory in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.16 seconds.

Strayhorn placed second in the 100 hurdles (15.15), high jump (5 feet, 5 inches) and long jump (18-3).

Capital City also took the top spot in the discus as Shayla Stewart recorded a mark of 120-1.

Stewart placed third in the shot put with a throw of 35-3.25.

Also posting a top-eight finish for Capital City were Kennedy Schanuth, who placed sixth in the javelin (100-7), and Kalie Strayhorn, who ran to an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.89).

Jefferson City's Rhakala Blackmon took second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.54 and finished third in the 100 hurdles in 16.27.

Ezinne Opara had a runner-up finish for the Lady Jays in the triple jump with a mark of 35-10.75.

In the long jump, Opara leaped 16-4.5 to finish sixth.

Jefferson City's 4x400-meter relay team finished second (4:15.04), the 4x200 team was third (1:49.07) and the 4x100 squad was fifth (51.13).

Also recording top-eight finishes for Jefferson City were Riley Schonhardt in the 300 hurdles (seventh, 50.72), Emmari Graham in the triple jump (seventh, 32-10.5), Elicia Theroff in the long jump (eighth, 16-.25), Seleena Morris in the 400 (eighth, 1:05.64) and Dijonay Dawson in the 100 (eighth, 12.81).

Competing for School of the Osage was Sara Wolf, who finished fifth in the 1,600 in 5:30.01 and sixth in the 3,200 in 12:05.62.
