WESTPHALIA — The Fatima Comets picked up their third win against a Class 6 program this spring, defeating the Battle Spartans 3-1 on Tuesday.

Fatima scored all three runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Blake Gentges tied the score at 1 with an RBI single, then Gage Cunningham reached on an error that scored two more runs.

Battle scored its run on an error in the top of the first inning.

Gentges was 2-for-3, adding a single, while Dean Hagenhoff added a pair of singles for the Comets.

Cunningham was the winning pitcher, holding Battle to one run on three hits in six innings. Cunningham also walked four and struck out four.

Gentges pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Fatima (6-1), ranked No. 9 in Class 4, plays tonight at Class 2 No. 1 Russellville for a state-ranked Show-Me Conference matchup.
