Prep Baseball: Eugene 5, Harrisburg 0

HARRISBURG - Eugene junior Tyler Renn struck out 17 batters Tuesday night, leading the Eugene Eagles to a 5-0 win against the Harrisburg Bulldogs.

Renn pitched a one-hitter, giving up a one-out single to Carter Bremer in the first inning. After that, he retired the next 20 batters he faced, and at one time struck out seven straight batters.

Renn closed out the shutout with six straight strikeouts, throwing just 84 pitches in seven innings.

Adin Sommerer hit a two-run single in the top of the first inning for Eugene, while Cameron Koetting added an RBI single in the seventh. The Eagles scored their other two runs in the fifth on an error.

Sommerer, Colby Renn and Koetting each had a pair of singles for the Eagles. Trent Parr also singled in the win.

In the JV game, Eugene also won 7-3.

Eugene (5-3) will play three games this weekend in the Iberia Tournament. The Eagles open against Plato on Friday, then matchup up against Iberia and Linn on Saturday in the four-team round-robin tournament.
