Prep Softball: Rock Bridge 2, Capital City 1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Rock Bridge Bruins scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday, rallying past the Capital City Lady Cavaliers for a 2-1 win in Central Missouri Activities Conference play.

Capital City scored its only run in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Camryn Sharp singled and then scored on a double by Kennedy Schanuth.

The Lady Cavaliers were five outs from their first conference win, but in the sixth, Maren Jones was hit by a pitch before the Bruins' Sophie Schupp smashed a two-run home run to center field, putting Rock Bridge on top 2-1.

The two teams combined for seven hits. Sharp had the only multihit game for either team, going 2-for-3 with two singles.

Lydia Coulson pitched a complete game for Capital City. In six innings, she allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Her counterpart, Ella Schouten, struck out 14 batters in seven innings for Rock Bridge (5-0, 2-0 CMAC).

Capital City (7-3, 0-2 CMAC) plays at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Hickman.
