Girls Tennis: Helias wins Invitational

The Helias Lady Crusaders captured the title Monday in their own Invitational at the Crusader Athletic Complex.

Helias finished with 26 points to win the four-team tournament. Hickman was second with 21, while Duchesne and Palmyra tied for third with 16.

Helias won a pair of singles titles. Hannah Meystrik went 3-0 at No. 3 singles, while Sabrina Schlacks was 3-0 at No. 4.

Kylie Bernskoetter at No. 1 singles and Veronica Swan at No. 2 singles both finished third with 1-2 records. Elena Myers of Helias, playing in the Hickman spot at No. 4 singles, finished 2-1 to take second.

The Lady Crusaders also captured doubles titles at No. 3 and No. 4.

The team of Kelsey McKenna and Helen Pool went 3-0 to win at No. 3 for Helias. Mary Lorang and Sydney Drinkard were undefeated taking the title at No. 4.

Helias finished second in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, with both teams finishing 2-1. Lainie Mantle and Samantha Schlacks played in the No. 1 matches, while Emily Knox and Lily Delk teamed up in the No. 2 matches.

Helias is scheduled to play a dual today at Marshall.
