Eldon tops Osage to win volleyball district title

OSAGE BEACH - The Eldon Lady Mustangs won their first district title since 1996, sweeping the School of the Osage Lady Indians 25-10, 25-21, 28-26 in Thursday's Class 3 District 9 Tournament championship match.

Caroline Beckmann led the top-seeded Lady Mustangs with 19 kills, putting her two short of 500 kills for the season. Haley Henderson followed with 10 kills and Addie Davis finished with a team-high 35 assists.

Tatum Frank had 18 digs, followed by Beckmann with 14 and Haley Henderson with 11, each recording a double-double. Beckmann served three aces and Jade Hall and Taylor Henderson each had two blocks.

Osage, the No. 3 seed in the district, finishes the season with a 17-13-1 record.

Eldon (24-5-1) advances to the Class 3 sectionals, where it will face District 11 champion Springfield Catholic (31-2-1) at either 12:30 or 1:30 p.m. at Springfield Catholic. The other sectional matchup between District 12 champion Mount Vernon (22-9) and District 10 champion Liberty: Mountain View (25-5-4) will follow.

The winners of the two sectional matchups will meet later in the day in the quarterfinals.
