TIPTON — The Eugene Lady Eagles won their first district title in program history Wednesday, defeating the Father Tolton Lady Trailblazers 25-23, 25-20, 25-13 in the championship match of the Class 2 District 6 Tournament.

Eugene, the No. 2 seed, had finished runner-up in districts in each of the past three seasons, but the Lady Eagles snapped that skid against top-seeded Tolton.

Eugene (17-10) advances to the Class 2 sectional round, where it will face District 8 champion Cabool (29-3-4) on Saturday at Belle. The winner will face either District 7 champion Belle (13-10-1) or District 5 champion O'Fallon Christian (4-7) later that day in the quarterfinals.
