Helias boys win Mexico Autumn Classic

MEXICO - The Helias Crusaders captured team honors Tuesday at the Mexico Autumn Cross Country Invitational.

Helias finished with 29 team points to top a nine-team field. Mexico was second with 76, while Kirksville was third with 81.

Payton Kirchhoff led five Crusaders who finished in the top 10, winning individual honors in 17:04.43. Logan Mathews was fourth in 17:27.86. Perry Scott (17:44.93), Matthew Abbott (17:47.93) and Grayson Knernschield (17:50.64) were seventh through ninth, respectively.

Nathan Reynolds of Eldon was sixth in 17:43.59. The Mustangs finished seventh in the team standings with 195 points.

On the girls side, Helias finished fourth with 81 points. St. Dominic was first with 54, while Mexico took second with 68 and Moberly was third in the nine-team field with 74.

Danielle Buker paced Helias, taking fourth in 20:29.21. Alexa Lamb was 13th in 22:20.57. Ava Morrisey (22:58.68), Avery Massman (23:05.92) and Arica Ketcherside (23:15.37) were 22nd through 24th, respectively.

Zoe Martonfi of Eldon was second in 20:07.80. Eldon did not post a team score.
