Prep Volleyball: Blair Oaks second in Rolla Invitational

ROLLA - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons finished in second place out of 10 teams Saturday in the Rolla Invitational.

Blair Oaks went 4-0 to win the Maroon pool. The Lady Falcons recorded straight-set wins against Rolla (25-13, 25-14), School of the Osage (25-18, 25-17), Sullivan (25-23, 25-14) and Potosi (25-16, 25-13).

In bracket play, Blair Oaks received a first-round bye. The Lady Falcons then avenged a loss earlier in the week to Fatima, winning 25-22, 17-25, 25-23 in Saturday's rematch in the semifinals.

Blair Oaks then lost 11-25, 12-25 to Nixa, the defending Class 4 state champion, in the tournament championship match.

For the tournament, Elsie Villmer led Blair Oaks with 40 kills, recording at least six kills in each match. Autumn Bax was next with 25 kills and Kennedy Flanner had 19 kills. Sarah Girard was next on the team with 17 kills.

Madi Rissmiller had a team-high 60 assists, including 17 against Fatima, while Emily Tellman added 40 assists.

Payton Mitchell finished with a team-best 44 digs, while Villmer had 34. Mitchell and Villmer had 12 and 11 digs, respectively, against Fatima. Rissmiller chipped in 24 digs.

Alyssa Hargus totaled 11 blocks, while Autumn Bax had 10 blocks. Emma Schroeder and Girard added eight and seven blocks, respectively.

Mitchell had a team-high nine aces, including seven against Sullivan, while Flanner finished with eight aces, including three against Rolla.

Blair Oaks (19-4) is off this week and will host Owensville on Oct. 12. Tuesday's scheduled matchup against Helias at Rackers Fieldhouse has been postponed.
