COLUMBIA — Three players finished with a double-double Tuesday as the Jefferson City Lady Jays defeated the Battle Spartans 70-38 to open the season.

Kara Daly led the Lady Jays with 29 points and 15 rebounds, Sarah Linthacum scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Hannah Nilges added 13 points and 13 assists.

Jefferson City led 18-9 after the first quarter, 34-11 at halftime and 55-28 after the third quarter.

The game was the first Central Missouri Activities Conference matchup for Jefferson City.

Jefferson City (1-0) is back in action next Wednesday when it hosts Lee's Summit West at Fleming Fieldhouse.

In Tuesday's JV game against Battle, Jefferson City won 47-42.

The Jefferson City freshman team defeated Hickman 46-9 in Columbia.
