Helias girls basketball coach Alan Lepper announced his resignation Thursday.

Less than 10 days ago, they were preparing their teams for postseason basketball games.

Now they announced they are stepping down as head coaches.

Alan Lepper, the head coach of the Helias Lady Crusaders, and St. Elizabeth boys head coach Dillon Tenholder have both announced they were resigning from their respective positions.

Lepper just completed his fourth year as head coach at Helias. The Lady Crusaders finished with a 15-13 record, winning the Class 4 District 10 Tournament title. Last Wednesday, the Lady Crusaders fell 49-37 to the Sullivan Lady Eagles in a sectional game at Missouri S&T in Rolla.

Lepper spent more than a decade as an assistant at Helias as well as working with the youth Lady Knights program.

"We are grateful for coach Lepper's 14 years of coaching at Helias," Helias athletic director Tom Guinn said in a release.

Lepper compiled a record of 55-52 in his four years leading the Lady Crusaders, who won their first district title since 2016 this season.

Tenholder has been the head coach at St. Elizabeth for the past three seasons.

The Hornets were 25-6 this season, finishing second in the Class 1 state tournament.

In a post on Facebook, Tenholder said he plans to continue coaching.

"This decision was made simply in looking at what I feel is best for my own future," Tenholder wrote.

St. Elizabeth, who finished third in the state tournament in 2019, posted a combined record of 63-24 in Tenholder's three seasons.
