NEW BLOOMFIELD — The Capital City baseball team earned its first victory of summer league play Thursday, defeating the New Bloomfield Wildcats 5-4 in the first game of the doubleheader.

New Bloomfield edged Capital City 4-3 in Game 2.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of Game 1, but the Cavaliers crossed the plate four times in the third.

A walk with the bases loaded scored the first run, and Brett Kuebler and Ben Turner each smacked an RBI single. Kuebler later scored on a passed ball.

Kuebler added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make the score 5-3.

It was Capital City taking the early lead in Game 2. Kuebler singled in a run. Turner followed with an RBI double for a 2-0 advantage.

The Cavaliers extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth.

New Bloomfield tied it at 3 in the bottom of the fourth and Ashton Schuster's RBI single in the fifth concluded the game.

Capital City will take on Jefferson City on Tuesday at Vivion Field. The doubleheader starts at 6 p.m.
