Lady Jays, Helias boys receive No. 1 seed in districts

The Jefferson City Lady Jays and the Helias Crusaders received the No. 1 seeds in their respective district tournaments, as the seedings were released Saturday.

The Lady Jays (20-2), ranked No. 2 in Class 5, will begin their postseason in the semifinals of the Class 5 District 9 Tournament at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Battle High School. Jefferson City awaits the winner between No. 4 Sedalia Smith-Cotton (9-12) and No. 5 Battle (7-17).

Rock Bridge (17-4), the No. 2 seed and the No. 3-ranked team in Class 5, will face third-seeded Hickman (9-14) in the other semifinal.

The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 6.

The Crusaders (17-5) also open the postseason with a first-round bye. They will play in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 10 Tournament - hosted by Capital City High School - on Tuesday, March 3, awaiting the first-round winner between No. 4 Camdenton (4-20) and No. 5 Capital City (4-19).

The Cavaliers and the Lakers play in the first round at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The other first-round matchup is at 12:30 p.m. between No. 3 School of the Osage (5-18) and No. 6 Marshall (3-18).

Boonville (18-5), the No. 2 seed, awaits the School of the Osage-Marshall winner in the other semifinal. The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5.

The Jefferson City Jays (10-11) received the No. 3 seed in the Class 5 District 9 boys bracket. The Jays will face No. 2 Battle (16-8) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the semifinals.

The Jays won their regular-season matchup 52-49 against the Spartans.

Rock Bridge (20-3) took the tournament's No. 1 seed and will play in the other semifinal against the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 4 Smith-Cotton (11-11) and No. 5 Hickman (4-18).

In the Class 4 District 10 girls tournament, the No. 3 Helias Lady Crusaders (11-11) will take on the sixth-seeded Capital City Lady Cavaliers (7-16) in the first round at 2 p.m. Saturday. The winner will face No. 2 Camdenton (17-7) at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 2.

No. 4 Marshall (12-10) will play No. 5 School of the Osage (8-11) in the first round at 11 a.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will take on top-seeded Boonville (20-3) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Monday, March 2.

The championship game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5.
