Boys Basketball: Fatima 62, Linn 45

WESTPHALIA - The second half was the difference Friday night for the Fatima Comets, who defeated the Linn Wildcats 62-45 to earn a share of the Show-Me Conference title.

Fatima led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, 28-25 at halftime and 47-39 entering the fourth quarter.

Lee Verslues scored a game-high 24 points for the Comets, who tied Eugene and St. Elizabeth with an identical 7-1 record in conference play.

Nathan Brandt scored 15 points and Brett Werner added 11.

Alek Peters led the way for Linn with 19 points, while Caleb Maassen tallied 14.

Fatima (16-9) is the No. 4 seed in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament, which begins Tuesday at Eldon. The Comets will take on No. 5 seed Versailles at 5:30 p.m.

Linn (17-7, 5-3 Show-Me) is the No. 3 seed in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament, which begins Tuesday at New Bloomfield. The Wildcats will face No. 6 seed Belle at 7:45 p.m.
