Gentry finishes tied for 69th in Southern Junior Championship

JOHNSON, Ark. - Alex Gentry concluded the 48th annual Southern Junior Championship on Thursday with a 7-over 79, missing the cut by just three strokes.

The Helias graduate shot a 37 on the front nine, recording birdies on the par-5 fifth and par-3 eighth. He also had pars on the second, fourth and sixth holes.

On the back nine, Gentry recorded pars on the 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes.

His two-day total of 10-over 154 was good for a a tie for 69th place at Blessings Golf Club.

The top 52 golfers made the cut and will tee off this morning in the third round.

Thomas Morrison of Dallas leads the field by a stroke after shooting 67-69 to sit at 8 under par.

Areen Aggarwal of Columbia was the lone golfer from Mid-Missouri made the cut, shooting a 7-over 151 in the first two rounds.
