Alex Gentry is among 120 golfers scheduled to begin play today in the 48th Southern Junior Championship.

Gentry, a 2020 Helias High School graduate, is slated to tee off at 7:25 a.m. today at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. It's a par-72 course that measures 7,089 yards.

On the Junior Golf Scoreboard, Gentry is currently ranked No. 2 in Missouri, No. 11 in the Midwest, No. 125 in the United States and No. 134 in the world in the class of 2020.

On Thursday, Gentry is scheduled for an 11:05 a.m. tee time. After two rounds, the field will be cut to the top 48 for Friday's final round.

Charles Howell III holds the Southern Junior Championship record with three victories (1994-96).

Gentry, who was third in the Missouri Junior Amateur earlier this summer, will play this fall at the University of Central Missouri. The Mules enter the season ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II by Golfstat.com.
