Green homers, earns win for Lady Jays at St. Elizabeth

ST. ELIZABETH - Megan Green drove in twice as many runs as she allowed to lead the Jefferson City Lady Jays to a 9-2 victory against the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets on Thursday.

The Lady Jays scored first when Avrey Reynolds singled to right field to plate Kara Daly, who led off the third with a single.

St. Elizabeth answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half. Maddie Wilde reached on an infield single and Emily Wilde scored during the play on an error.

Tasia Green, who walked in the inning, scored on a fielder's choice to give the Lady Hornets a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Jays didn't trail long as Abi Karr crossed the place on Green's sacrifice fly.

Two batters later, Reynolds singled in Addison Morgan for a 3-2 lead.

Reynolds finished 3-for-5 with two RBI while Green, Daly and Karr each added two hits.

Daly doubled in Morgan in the fifth and Karr drove in Jaiden Allabaugh with a single in the sixth. Daly also walked three times.

Green doubled to left field in the fifth to score Daly and added a two-run home run in the seventh to finish with four RBI.

Green went 5 innings in the pitcher's circle, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks.

Reynolds went 1 innings with a strikeout while allowing a hit.

Emily Wilde accounted for two of St. Elizabeth's five hits. Struemph and Maddie Wilde each had a hit and an RBI.

Emily Wilde tossed four innings, allowing a pair of runs.

Jefferson City (2-0) will host Fatima on Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Vogel Field.

St. Elizabeth (1-1) will play Monday at California.
