Boys Basketball: St. Elizabeth 79, Jamestown 49

JAMESTOWN - In a Class 1 top-10 matchup Tuesday, the third-ranked St. Elizabeth Hornets used a strong second half to rout the ninth-ranked Jamestown Eagles 79-49.

St. Elizabeth led 20-17 after one quarter and 39-32 at halftime. The Hornets outscored the Eagles 20-11 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 59-43 and then won the scoring battle 20-6 in the final eight minutes.

Brock Lucas and Ross Struemph each scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Hornets.

Christian Snider finished with 22 points for the Eagles and Clark Rohrbach added 16 points. Rohrbach also recorded his 1,000th career point in the loss.

St. Elizabeth (1-0), the No. 1 seed in next week's Eugene Tournament, will play Missouri Military Academy in the first round next Tuesday.

Jamestown (0-1), the No. 2 seed in next week's Tipton Tournament, will face Russellville in the first round next Tuesday.
