Four area volleyball players earn all-state status

Four area volleyball players were selected to the 2019 Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association all-state teams, which were announced this past weekend.

Jefferson City senior outside hitter Annabelle Maassen was one of 36 players selected to the Class 4 all-state team.

Maassen led the Lady Jays with 455 kills this season, averaging 5.7 kills per set. She was also second on the team with 273 digs and added 36 total blocks.

Maassen broke the Jefferson City career records with 1,041 kills and 825 digs.

The Lady Jays won the Class 4 District 12 championship in three sets against Helias before falling in straight sets to Willard in the Class 4 sectional round. Jefferson City finished the season with a 29-6-2 record.

Three area athletes were recognized on the Class 3 all-state team, which featured 30 players.

Blair Oaks senior outside hitter Mariah Radmacher broke the school single-season record with 360 kills, averaging 4.9 kills per set. She was also second on the team with 225 digs and 45 assists.

This is the second straight season Radmacher has been named to the all-state team. She was named the Tri-County Conference's Most Outstanding Player this season.

Blair Oaks finished the season with a 30-5 record, losing in straight sets to California in the Class 3 District 10 championship match.

California senior middle hitter Paige Lamm topped the Lady Pintos with 328 kills this season, averaging 4.3 kills per set, and also had a team-high 46 service aces and 44 total blocks.

California won the Class 3 District 10 Tournament against Blair Oaks. The Lady Pintos then lost in straight sets to Logan-Rogersville - the eventual state runner-up - in the Class 3 sectional round. California ended the season with a 26-7-3 record.

Eldon sophomore outside hitter Caroline Beckmann had a team-high 352 kills for the Lady Mustangs, averaging 5.0 kills per set. She also led the team with 232 digs and 46 total blocks.

Eldon ended the season with a 17-14-1 record, falling in three sets to Blair Oaks in the semifinals of the Class 3 District 10 Tournament.
