Jays begin soccer district play with 2-0 win vs. Battle

COLUMBIA - The Jefferson City Jays will play for a district soccer championship after defeating the host Battle Spartans 2-0 on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 9 Tournament.

The top-seeded Jays took a 2-0 lead in the first half against the fourth-seeded Spartans with goals by Will Kuster and Ethan Blake.

Jefferson City (16-5) will take on No. 2 seed Rock Bridge (21-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday in the title game.

Rock Bridge defeated No. 3 seed Hickman 1-0 in the other semifinal.
