Helias girls roll past Cuba in Sullivan Tournament

SULLIVAN - Lindsey Byers finished with a double-double Wednesday night as the Helias Lady Crusaders opened the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic with a 57-27 victory against the Cuba Lady Wildcats.

Byers totaled 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Crusaders, who extended an 18-10 lead after one quarter into a 33-12 advantage at the half.

Kylie Bernskoetter added 14 points with a team-high four assists for the Lady Crusaders. Helias finished with a 38-19 edge in rebounds.

Abby Peterson had 12 points for seventh-seeded Cuba (1-4).

Helias (2-1), seeded second, will face sixth-seeded Owensville in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. today. Owensville upended third-seeded St. James 29-27 in its first-round game Wednesday.
