Prep Wrestling: Jays JV finishes third at Versailles Tournament

VERSAILLES - The Jefferson City Jays JV team had three individual champions Saturday at the Versailles Tournament.

The Jays took third place out of 14 teams with 113 points. Versailles won the team title with 154 points and Adrian was second with 118.

Issac Enloe and Mathias Wieberg each posted 5-0 records, while Tanner Quick was 4-0 to claim individual titles for the Jays.

Quick won his four matches by fall at 170 pounds, while Enloe and Wieberg each had five pins at 220 and 285, respectively.

Carter Epema was third at 145 with a 3-1 record, winning the third-place match in overtime, while Fred Wilson finished third at 195 with a 4-1 record and three pins.

Tim Davis was fifth at 152 with a 3-2 record, while Keith Stennis placed sixth at 132 with a 1-4 record. Noah Casey also took sixth at 182 with a 1-3 record.

Albert Naaman was seventh at 138 with a 2-3 record and Andrew Naaman was seventh at 160 with a 2-3 record. Nick Straderman posted a 3-2 record to finish ninth at 126.

The Jefferson City Lady Jays took fourth place out of eight teams Saturday in the Versailles Girls Tournament.

The Lady Jays totaled 20 points, trailing Marceline (45), Sedalia Smith-Cotton (32) and Tipton (23).

Taking second place for Jefferson City were Maya Wood at 125, Autuum Carroll at 130, Abby Zimmerman at 142 and Ezenna Opara at 166.

Opara finished 3-2 with three pins, while Zimmerman was 2-1 with two pins. Wood was also 2-1 with a win by fall and Carroll with 0-2.

Finishing third for the Lady Jays were Makayla Wallenmeyer at 110, Madeline Showers at 135 and Saveena Hees at 142. Wallenmeyer and Hees each finished 1-2 with a pin and Showers was 0-2.

Stalena Whitehead was 0-3 to take fourth at 125, while Zoey Mzeru at 120 and Whitney Nale at 166 each placed fifth. Nale was 2-2 with two pins and Mzeru was 1-4 with a pin.

Jadyn Scott finished sixth at 120 with an 0-5 record.
