Helias boys beat Lafayette: Wildwood to finish third in Arvest Classic

SPRINGFIELD - The Helias Crusaders overcame a slow start offensively Saturday to beat the Lafayette: Wildwood Lancers 58-41 in the third-place game of the Arvest Classic at Parkview.

Helias scored just four points in the first eight minutes, but still held a two-point lead after the first quarter. The Crusaders had 19 points in the second quarter to lead 23-11 at halftime and continued to hold a 37-23 advantage through three quarters.

Marcus Anthony led the Crusaders with 18 points, while Isaac Johnson finished with 13 points. Both players were named to the all-tournament team.

Damon Johanns also reached double figures with 12 points in the win.

Helias (2-1) is off next week and will host Republic on Tuesday, Dec. 17, with the JV game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
