COLUMBIA — Mound City captured the 8-Man state championship Saturday with an 82-46 victory against Southwest Livingston at Faurot Field.

Mound City led 22-12 after one quarter and 50-26 at the half before taking a 74-32 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Dylan George had 231 rushing yards on 17 carries to lead Mound City. TJ Hopkins ran for 141 yards on 21 carries, while Landon Poppa totaled 129 yards on 15 attempts.

George and Poppa each scored four touchdowns, while Hopkins totaled three.

Mound City (12-2) finished with 488 yards on 61 carries and did not attempt a pass in the game. It scored on 11 of its 16 possessions, two ended with punts and one with a fumble while the other two came at the end of the first half and the fourth quarter.

It's the eighth state title in program history for Mound City, which lost 58-34 to Southwest Livingston in the regular season.

Southwest Livingston (12-2) had 315 total yards — 189 rushing and 126 passing.

Mack Anderson ran 33 times for 189 yards and four touchdowns, while finishing 17-of-28 passing for 126 yards and a touchdown.
