Harvest Prep edges Mount Lebanon in Classic semifinals

When the Harvest Prep (Ohio) Warriors drew up their final play with :04.9 remaining in a tie game, they knew exactly who would get the final shot.

Standing in front of the Warriors' bench, Soul Hines in-bounded the ball to CJ Anthony, who took two dribbles and shot a fadeaway jumper from the top of the key. The 19-footer swished home with :01.2 remaining, giving Harvest Prep a 73-71 win against the Mount Lebanon (Pa.) Blue Devils in Friday's semifinal round of the Joe Machens Great 8 Classic at Fleming Fieldhouse.

Anthony, who made a Great 8 Classic single-game record eight 3-pointers Thursday, finished with 11 points in Friday's win.

The game featured three ties in the first quarter, but Mount Lebanon held a 16-15 advantage through the first eight minutes.

Sean Loughran scored six of his game-high 21 points in the second quarter to extend the Blue Devils' lead to 34-30 at halftime.

Mount Lebanon, which used an 8-0 run to break a tie at 26, never trailed in the third quarter. The Blue Devils led 55-48 after three and Loughran's 3 to begin the fourth gave them their biggest lead of the game at 10 points.

Anthony scored eight points in the final eight minutes, but it was Elijah Glenn, Harvest Prep's 6-foot-5 senior forward, who sparked the rally. Glenn hit 3-of-4 attempts from 3 in the fourth quarter, and his last make pulled the Warriors within one at 64-63 with 4:02 to play.

Hines made a 3 from the right corner with 1:19 left to give Harvest Prep its first lead of the second half at 71-69. Mount Lebanon's Blaine Gartley followed with a layup with :40 left to tie the score at 71, setting up the Warriors' last possession.

Glenn led the Warriors with 18 points, while Andrew Tate finished with 14 and Brandon Beavers chipped in 12. Hines also reached double figures with 11 points.

Harvest Prep shot 27-of-40 (67.5 percent) from the field in the win and made all but one of their 19 shot attempts inside the 3-point line.

Gartley tallied 16 points for the Blue Devils and Jake Hoffman scored 15 points.
