Lincoln cancels football game at Northwest Missouri

The Lincoln athletic department announced in a press release Sunday night the Blue Tigers are canceling Thursday night's football game against Northwest Missouri due to COVID-19 concerns.

According to a press release from the Northwest Missouri athletic department, the game will be considered a "no-contest" and will not be rescheduled.

The game in Maryville was set to be the home opener for Northwest Missouri, which is ranked No. 4 in Division II by the American Football Coaches Association.

Lincoln, which dropped its season opener 76-12 last Thursday at home against Washburn, is set to return to action Saturday, Sept. 18, at Fort Hays State, which opened the season as the first team outside the AFCA Division II Top 25 poll. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Fort Hays State lost its season opener 15-7 last Thursday at home to Northwest Missouri.
